Our story
It all started with a young man who was looking for a mentor and a job. When Avi Zangi was just shy of 18 years old, he began working for his father, who at the time was a carpenter running his own shop, building furniture with his own hands, pouring his blood, sweat, and tears into every job. Avi was his fathers apprentice, learning all the ins and outs of millwork, design, and craftsmanship. Through continuous trial and error, Avi not only gained the tools to create a space his clients would love but also how to design it in the most esthetic, sleek way. Almost 30 years later, Avi has built his business from the ground up, working with brands from all over the world and clients with various backgrounds, styles and tastes.
In the midst of Avis’s journey to becoming the best in his business, Asaf, his younger brother joined the team as @thekitchenguy. Asaf began his journey by being exposed to the multiple facets that encompass millwork and creating bespoke kitchen spaces. He was the brains and operation behind the social media account that would later showcase all of the designs and projects the brothers created over the years.
In the last year, Asaf and Avi partnered together alongside Ori, Avi’s eldest son, to build and open their first showroom in Manhattan. DOCA NYC is a unique space that tells a story of its own, showcasing an array of styles and textures that can be replicated in any home.
We feel blessed that we can combine both our love for family and tradition and passion for design and millwork to create an environment that displays it
